Update and a Giveaway!

Hey everyone! I've been crazy busy this past week helping set up the new retail location for the Old Navy I work part time for. We have a brand new awesome store and it's been a lot of work but I'm really excited for the end result and opening, which is tomorrow night! Our original store was falling apart and just plain old, so I'm loving the new location, new visuals, and just overall newness of the store in general! I've worked over 40 hours in the past 5 days, so I'm pooped!

However, I have exciting news! La Caseta de Paper did a lovely spotlight on my shop yesterday and she's running a giveaway to receive a $20 gift certificate to my COSDesign Etsy Shop! Check it out here and be sure to enter!

New Items in the Shop: Facebook App Covers

Hi everyone! I've been getting a few requests here and there on Etsy for custom image sets for Facebook Timeline app covers. It was only about a few months back that I realized some apps let you customize the tab image used for the app on your Facebook page. I did a search on Etsy and noticed that a few shops offer these, but not very many. This got my creative juices flowing and I have created a few sets so far. Each set includes 12 app covers, 1 blank app cover that you can customize, and a text document detailing the fonts and colors used. Below are the sets I've created and the links for instant download on Etsy. Enjoy!

Broken Computer = Issues

Wednesday morning, I wake up to prepare for the phone company to install a better modem only to find out that there is something terribly wrong with my computer. I try to wake my macbook pro up from sleep only to realize that the screen is blank. This has happened before and I just assumed that the brightness of the screen was too low, but after trying to adjust it, the screen continues to stay blank. After many times restarting and running some of the tests mentioned in the manual, it continues to have the same issue.

So, I managed to get the modem installed without having to use my computer, but had to test it out on my old laptop. After dealing with it, I finally did some research online and found a lot of people talking about a faulty Nvidia card on a lot of the macbook pros that came out between 2007 and 2008. I bought mine in December 2007, so I took the advice on the forum and called apple support. She asked me a lot of troubleshooting questions and I mentioned the list of computers with the faulty card. She told me that my computer was on the list and should be able to be fixed for free if this was the issue causing the screen problems. I took my computer to a nearby apple authorized store and told them about it and they agreed. Now my computer is there being fixed. They mentioned that if this is not the only issue, I would have to pay for any other repairs, so I'm hoping for the best right now. I just wanted to update this so that everyone would know why I'm a little out of reach at the moment and have my etsy shop closed at the moment.

Right now, all I can do is hope for the best and wait for a call back.

My Etsy Shop is Turning 1!

Coming up on April 20th, my etsy shop will be 1 year old! I can hardly believe it. Here's a little back story...

I first started out my etsy shop by selling jewelry. Then I switched to selling jewelry and accessories. I focused on bracelets and keyrings for a while but wasn't having as much luck as I wished, so I finally decided to test the waters of graphic design.

I had always worked with layouts and graphics in the past but had never tried selling before. I researched and saw what others were doing and finally made a few banners and listed them. After about a week or so, I got a couple of sales and it boosted my confidence so I worked hard and started stocking more.

A few months of having a shop with a combination of jewelry, accessories, and banners...I finally transitioned over to a graphics only shop. My sales have pretty much doubled since I started selling digital graphics and I could not be more pleased. I had always enjoyed making things like that, but never figured I could earn a little bit by doing so. Nowadays, my shop is full of banner and avatar sets at affordable prices - most are $3.50 - $4, and I try to charge the same amount for any add ons.

Now that you know all about the now and then of my etsy shop, here comes the part where I need your help. I have set a goal to reach 100 sales by April 20th, to make my 1 yr anniversary complete! Right now I'm sitting at 94 sales and only need 6 more to reach said goal. I have decided that the 100th person to buy a banner and avatar set from me will receive free sale banner, sale avatar, vacation banner, vacation avatar, and customer appreciation graphics! So go ahead, take a look around my shop and try to be the 100th customer!

Feature Friday #9

This week's featured shop is Lova Revolutionary Handmade Art.

This week I decided to feature a shop related to Valentine's Day. When I came across these cute felt heart brooches, I thought they were perfect! The Mega Cute Red with Buttons Felt Heart Hand Embroidery Mini Brooch (pictured on the left) is so great. I love how it's puffy and the red and yellow is really nice. There are a wide variety of different hearts to choose from and there are many other brooches and felt related items to browse. From felt brooches to wall hangings and beyond, you are sure to find something unique in this shop!

Feature Friday #8

This week's featured shop is Buddy Designs.

I first came across this shop when I was doing a search for birds. The shop offers some really cute fabric stuffed partridges in some fantastic designs. However, what really caught my eye were the really neat pincushions! I don't do a lot of sewing but I find these to be just lovely. They give an added flair and are far from the typical tomato pincushions that we all are familiar with. From pincushions to key wristlets, you are sure to find something awesome for yourself or your loved one! And of course the pincushions would be the perfect gift for any sewing enthusiast!

I came across this shop when I was asked to make a banner package. After taking a look, I fell in love with the creativeness behind all her items! From bobby pins (pictured on the left) and snap clip sets to earrings and necklaces - there are so many great items to browse through. I especially like all the cute bobby pin sets, such as the opposites attract set and the green with envy set. They are so stylish and cute! :) All these items would make great gifts.
