Update and a Giveaway!

Hey everyone! I've been crazy busy this past week helping set up the new retail location for the Old Navy I work part time for. We have a brand new awesome store and it's been a lot of work but I'm really excited for the end result and opening, which is tomorrow night! Our original store was falling apart and just plain old, so I'm loving the new location, new visuals, and just overall newness of the store in general! I've worked over 40 hours in the past 5 days, so I'm pooped!

However, I have exciting news! La Caseta de Paper did a lovely spotlight on my shop yesterday and she's running a giveaway to receive a $20 gift certificate to my COSDesign Etsy Shop! Check it out here and be sure to enter!

So, as you can tell I've been inactive on the blog for a little bit. I've been having a frustrating week as far as creativity and ideas. I've also recently received some bad news from Etsy and Facebook saying that I can no longer sell my social media icons due to copyright issues :(

They are cracking down on the use of their trademark "f" and I just feel really frustrated about it. How am I supposed to help others link up to Facebook on their blogs or websites if I cannot use it? When I first started creating icons, I felt like I was doing nothing wrong because so many others on Etsy make the same type of sets. If you search "social media icons" on Etsy, over 40 pages of content pops up and I compared my listings to those and they are all using the same "f" on their icons as well. I contacted Facebook about it and they said that they have an ongoing trademark enforcement program. Whatever that is supposed to mean. Who knows if these other sellers will get notifications soon or if they'll be lucky to go under the radar.

They also mentioned I was not targeted directly and that a lot of other listings were also deactivated. I just feel that if you deactivate some, why not all? I cannot help but feel like that kid in kindergarden class that gets called out for doing something that all the other kids are doing and I'm the only one that gets punished. *Sigh* The weird part is they only deactivated two of my listings, but I had many others. I got so paranoid about it that I took them all down just to be on the safe side and not have my entire Etsy account deleted.

I still feel so annoyed by all of this. I was coming up with some really cool ideas for social media icon sets and now I cannot even share them on Etsy. I would love to hear opinions on this matter. What do you guys think about this?

Birchbox | July 2013

Contents:

◆ 1 Birchbox Extra: Set of 2 Bobby Pins
(Sample Size - $1.67)
These bobby pins are cute, but I don't really care for them. They are really hard to get in and out of hair and they are pretty bulky as well.

◆ 2 ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in "Get Naked"
(Sample Size - $8.00)
I'm not a huge fan of nude lipsticks, or lipsticks in general so I didn't even bother trying this. I decided to give it as a gift instead.

◆ 3 Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect
I don't know if I'm crazy or what, but I couldn't figure out how large the sample size was. I'm not sure how I feel about this product. I've used other leave in conditioners, so I'll give it a shot. It smells decent.

◆ 4 Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream
(Sample Size - $7.68)
This cream goes on smoothly, doesn't smell too bad, and doesn't make my face feel sticky or look shiny. It says it repairs skin damage and provides hydration for up to 26 hours, so I'm hoping for the best.

◆ 5 LA FRESH Instant Body Soother
(Sample Size - $0.83)
I received two of these little body soother wipes. I don't really see the point in this product, but I tried it out anyway. It smells a lot like minty toothpaste, which was a bit strange for a product being applied to skin. Luckily, the smell doesn't stick with you. I was not impressed at all. I don't feel refreshed and it made my skin feel a little sticky.

This box's value falls around $20. I think this box was by far the worst one I've received. Out of the 5 months that I've had Birchbox, only one box has blew me away. I actually forgot to blog about it last month. It was my June box and it came with some really great exfoliator, shampoo, and high definition powder and even some really cute destination postcards which I framed and put in the living room.

After much debate, I've decided to cancel my Birchbox subscription and give some other boxes a shot. I just signed up for Eco-Emi which is a subscription box that focuses on eco friendly products. You can get anything from makeup, skin care, or even food. I'm excited after seeing some of the reviews on Youtube.
