I was recently selected by BzzAgent to participate in the Green Giant Veggie Snack Chips Campaign! I was really excited to give these a shot because I'm always on the look out for a better way to snack!
What I Received:
- One Full-size bag of Green Giant Roasted Veggie Tortilla Chips with Zesty Cheddar
- One Full-size bag of Green Giant Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips with Sea Salt
- Four Snack size bags of Green Giant Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips with Sea Salt
- A handful of coupons to pass along to friends & family
My Thoughts:
When I first heard of Green Giant making veggie snack chips, I thought it sounded pretty interesting and was very intrigued in trying them. I was super excited when Bzzagent sent over the samples! I first tried the sweet potato sea salt version and was pleasantly surprised that they tasted pretty darn good! I liked how they were sweet, but not too sweet and had a decent crunch to them. They actually reminded me a bit of Sun Chips, but without the ridges and chip size. They were definitely a lot thinner. They are ultimately different from normal potato chips, and who wants to eat the same old potato chip, right!?
I then tried the zesty cheddar roasted veggie tortilla chips. I had heard rumor that they tasted a bit like doritos, but I was thinking, "Could they really!?". However, when I tried them, I was shocked at how close they did taste to that familiar brand! The best part is they don't make you feel "blah" after eating them because they have a lighter taste.
However, the ingredients are not completely something to brag about. The sweet potato version has a pretty short list of ingredients, but the zesty cheddar tortilla version has an extremely long list of ingredients. The nutrition facts for both are okay, but could be better. Neither variety has more than 1g of fiber, they both have .5g of saturated fat, and 19g of carbohydrates! I did a comparison to Lays and Doritos just to see the difference. The plain Lays and nacho cheese Doritios nutrition facts were very similar to the sweet potato and zesty cheddar nutrition facts. There was not much of a difference at all. The zesty cheddar tortilla chips, with their long list of ingredients, were just a tiny bit better than Doritos. Doritos have a lot of added artificial flavors and colors but if you check the zesty cheddar tortilla chips ingredients, you will find yellow 6 lake and yellow 5 lake. Not too impressed with these findings.
All in all, I liked these chips. They are not quite up to par on the healthy side but they are still a better alternative to Doritos or Lays. I'd recommend them if you're looking for a snack that has a lighter taste and is still fulfilling for your snack needs.
I'm a BzzAgent and I received a product sample, coupon, collateral or other special premium from BzzAgent.
Thanks Bzzagent!
we love sweet potato!!
